Bonga Hair Salon
Owner: Nokubonga Mandlantse
Container number: 107
Could you tell us something about your business?
I’m Bonga Hair Salon at the Container walk of Philippi Village. My name is Nokubonga Mandlantse and I’m located in container 107. I’m working here since the beginning of July this year. In 2007 I become a hairdresser. Before I come to Philippi Village I worked as a hairdresser in another neighbourhood.
Why did you choose specifically for this type of business?
I choose to start this type of business because I like to play with hair. For me it is important to look nice. I like to make people more beautiful by doing their hair.
What difficulties did you face in starting your own business?
It is hard pricing your products. Few people expect lower prices because a lot of hairdressers are cheaper, however I give the best quality. The customers don’t calculate the price, so that’s a difficulty that I face starting my own business.
How can Philippi Village help you with your business and overcoming these difficulties?
Philippi Village is able to help me doing my finance. It is hard to get a good traction of all the money what is going in and out. Furthermore do I want better signage for my salon. Maybe Philippi Village can help me getting a better signage.
What do you like about being an entrepreneur?
What I like about being an entrepreneur is the freedom to decide your own working hours. Although is it hard to do everything by your own. Fortunately Philippi Village can help me with those difficulties.
What is your unique selling proposition?
The unique part of my hair salon is that I do a lot of different hair styles. Furthermore I do styles that other hairdressers aren’t able to create.
Who specifically are you targeting?
Bonga Hair Salon is an unisex salon/barbershop. Women as well as men with every age are welcome at my salon.
How do you think your customers see you?
I hope the customers will see me as a friendly personality with a good expertise.
We are now five years on. What has changed in your business from where you are now?
Within five years I will have a big hair salon in a mall with a lot of customers. I hope that I will be close at Philippi Village.
